THE MONTESSORI DIFFERENCE (A.M.I.)

DR. MARIA MONTESSORI AND HER METHOD

Maria Montessori was a medical doctor, anthropologist, and psychologist who became interested in the development and psychology of the young child. The teaching method she evolved stresses the individual growth of the physical, intellectual, and psychological abilities of children. It is designed to allow children to progress at their own speed by their own motivation, within a carefully prepared environment, offering beauty, order, and reality. The goal of Montessori is not to fill the child with facts from some pre-selected course of study, but rather to cultivate the child’s own natural desire to learn. The areas of focus in our curriculum includes the following: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, Culture & Geography
